Pai Gow Poker

Pai Gow Poker is variation of a Chinese domino game. It is played with a 53 card deck (standard 52 cards and a joker). The joker may serve as a wildcard to complete straights or flushes only, otherwise it is valued as an Ace.

After the player places an ante wager, the player and banker are each dealt seven cards. The player must arrange those seven cards into two seperate poker hands using the following rules:

Back Hand: The player must play five cards in the back hand. This hand is ranked according to standard poker rules, except a wheel (A2345) ranks as the second highest straight.

Front hand: The player must play the remaining two cards in the front hand. This hand can make only pairs or play as high card, straight and flushes are not considered. The front hand may not rank higher than the back hand.

Poker Hand Rankings
Royal Flush A♥K♥Q♥J♥T♥ A straight flush ace high
Straight Flush 2♣3♣4♣5♣6♣ A straight with all cards of the same suit
4 of a Kind 8♠8♣8♥8♦K♣ Any four cards of the same face value
Full House Q♠Q♥Q♣2♥2♦ Three of a kind and a pair
Flush 5♥K♥2♥7♥T♥ Any five cards of the same suit
Straight 8♦9♠T♣J♥Q♥ Any five cards in consecutive order
3 of a Kind A♥A♠A♣5♥6♦ Any three cards of the same face value
2 Pair 7♠7♥9♣9♦3♣ Two sets of pairs
Pair T♥T♦2♠A♣9♥ Any two cards of the same face value
High card 7♠Q♣2♥5♦J♥ None of the above

As a rapid play feature, the player may also select the House Way button and the cards will automatically be arranged by the same rules that the banker is forced to play by.

After the player has arranged his hand, the banker then arranges his hand according to fixed house way rules. Our casino uses Las Vegas Flamingo House Way. The banker's back hand must also outrank the banker's front hand.

Once the banker has arranged his hand, each hand is compared; the player's back hand versus the banker's back hand, and the player's front hand versus the banker's front hand. Hands that tie (copies) go to the banker. In order for the player to win, he must win both the front hand and the back hand. If he wins only one hand, the ante wager pushes. Winnings hands are paid even money (1:1) less a 5% commission for the house.
