As can be seen from the DFB-Pokal of the 20/21 campaign results above, there have been a huge number of shocks to have already happened in this edition of the German football cup. Incredibly, Bayern Munich were dumped out by Holstein Kiel in a penalty shoot-out, despite having been considered strong favourites to win the DFB Pokal of this season as outright winners until their elimination.

Furthermore, 1.Bundesliga teams as big as TSG Hoffenheim have also been eliminated in shock fashion, whilst Hertha BSC went out to lower division opposition in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. Rot-Weiss Essen are one of the biggest surprises, though, as they have beaten Arminia Bielefeld and Fortuna Düsseldorf on their way to the Round of 16 from the German football cup tournament.

Best Players Of The DFB-Pokal 20-21 Edition So Far

With an abundance of goals scored in the German cup so far, despite just two rounds of football matches being completed, there are a few players to have already scored a multitude of their team’s goals. SC Paderborn’s Dennis Srbeny leads the top goalscorer race with 4 goals, whilst team-mate Sven Michel has 3.

Alongside him on three goals in the DFB-Pokal tournament are the likes of Martin Kobylanski (Eintracht Braunschweig), Andrej Kramaric (TSG Hoffenheim), Benito Raman (Schalke 04), Patrick Herrmann (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Jean-Philippe Mateta (FSV Mainz), João Victor (VfL Wolfsburg) and Marco Meyerhofer (SpVgg Greuther Fürth). Bayer Leverkusen’s Kerem Demirbay has the most assists in the German football cup so far with 4, whilst a whole host of players currently remain on two assists for the current edition of the DFB-Pokal, although many of them could add to their assist tally in the next round.

DFB-Pokal Round Of 16 Schedule

Despite the fact that some top German football clubs will be missing from the competition, the DFB-Pokal 20/21 Round of 16 still features a number of top ties. The draw looks like the following:

  • VfL Wolfsburg vs Schalke 04
  • SSV John Regensburg vs 1. FC Köln
  • VfB Stuttgart vs Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • Werder Bremen vs SpVgg Greuther Fürth
  • RB Leipzig vs VfL Bochum
  • Borussia Dortmund vs SC Paderborn
  • Rot-Weiss Essen vs Bayer Leverkusen
  • Holstein Kiel vs SV Darmstadt 1898

BetGold sports bettors looking to place a bet on the outright winner of the DFB-Pokal will find that Borussia Dortmund are considered favourites to win the 2020/21 edition of the German football cup, although they are closely followed by RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen. The other remaining teams are considered to be outsiders, although there is some value in the likes of Borussia Mönchengladbach and VfL Wolfsburg.
