The Paranaense is the top-flight of football that is played in the Brazilian state of Parana. It is officially known as the Campeonato Paranaense because of linguistic reasons and is run by the federation of the game in the state of Parana. It is called the Federação Paranaense de Futebol

Since this league was founded as far back as 1915, it is a very reliable betting option for betters online. Despite it not being the most well-known of football leagues in the world, those interested in betting can avail some great odds for Paranaense betting which can be accessed in some of the best online bookmakers that BetGold has reviewed already.

Paranaense Championship Format And Structure

The most curious thing about the formats in the regional Brazilian leagues is that they are subject to change regularly. The most recent format change in the Paranaense took place in 2014 and this brought about some drastic changes in how the league operated.

Now, a total of 12 teams take part in the whole tournament. They are placed in a single group of 12 and they play each other in a round-robin format, bar the fact that they play each other only once instead of playing each other twice like many other leagues in Europe and Brazil. This allows for quicker and more efficient betting, for which the potential for odds are limitless.

The winners of matches take three points, while the loser gets no points at all. Once a team plays all 11 games, their final total is looked. The top eight teams progress into the knockout stages. There, these teams play each other in a play-off type format and do that over two legs. Whichever teams that wins on aggregate advances and this is followed till the semi-final. The final is a one-legged affair and the team wins is crowned the champion.

Brazilian Paranaense Championship Relegation Rules

The relegation system in the Paranaense is slightly different. The bottom four teams take part in a mini-tournament. In this, they play each other in a round-robin format, where they play each other twice. This leaves betting experts to look at a mini-table and choose from a variety of odds.

The top two teams stay in the Paranaense, while the bottom two sustain relegation to the second division of football in the state. As for the top-four, they earn themselves a spot in the Copa Brasil for next season. This interesting format allows for more dynamic betting and a higher variety of odds.

Brazilian Paranaense Recent History

Coritiba have won the Paranaense title the most number of times in the competitions history- 38. But their last title win came in 2017, as Club Athletico Paranaense have won the title in the last two seasons and apart from Coritiba, Paranaense happen to be the only team to have won the title on a regular basis. They have tasted success for over 20 times too.

Coritiba had finished as the runner-ups in the competition in the 2018 season.

The sheer dominance of these two teams makes the betting for potential champions a very reliable one for bettors. BetGold offers some great predictions for the same and for many other major football and sports leagues in the world.
